
An appeal has been made by persons with special needs for Gov. Yahaya Bello to in the season of Eid El Kabir, declare free Education for persons with disabilities at all levels.

The PWDs made the appeal when the Disability Community paid the Executive Secretary visit as part of activities marking the Eid El Kabir.
During the visit the disability community called on the Executive Secretary to appeal to Gov Bello to declare free Education for persons with special needs at all levels.
In a statement after the visit to the Executive Secretary, Barr. Dare said he is optimistic that the Governor would listen to there demand particularly that he has done more for the community than any other governor.
The. PWD said the appeal is in line with the Universal Basic Education Policy for Persons with Disabilities to enjoy free Education for every school age child with special needs from primary to University levels.
The spokesman of the PWD, Hon. Yahaya Solomon, said declaring free Education from Primary to tertiary institutions for PWD of school age, is in line with Nigeria National Policy on Education that says children with special needs should have free Education at all levels.
According to the PWD declaring free Education would reduce exclusion, pointing out that exclusion limits PWD for gaining access to health facilities and check the future implications.
Hon. Solomon said the need to enhance special schools in the state has become necessary, said it would make parents of children with special needs not to have reason not to enroll there children in school as well as stop street begging.
Aside reducing the income of PWD, Hon. Solomon said exclusion of PWD affects the nation’s 10% of GDP, says with education the self worth and dignity of a person would is usually enhanced, urged Gov. Bello to in this season declare free Education for persons with disabilities.
The spokesman of the PWD called for the need to enhance special schools as well as pronounce free Education for PWD in this period of celebration as a Sallah gift for persons with special needs.
Reacting, Barr. Dare pointed out that Gov. Yahaya Bello remains the icon of person’s with disabilities, said no administration in Nigeria and Kogi State has equalled the support PWD have enjoyed like they are presently doing in Kogi State, assured that there request would be communicated to him expressed optimism of a positive response.
