FROM IKHILI EBALU, BENIN CITY

A group, Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP), Edo State, yesterday, urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to zero on Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Senator representing Edo Central district based on his developmental track records if the party must clinch power from the ruling political party in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Chairman of CRPP, Dr Samson Isibor, made the appeal in a statement titled: “CRPP clamouring for Senator Monday Okpebholo aka Agbakomiza” and made available to newsmen in Benin City.

He said the senator has renovated schools, empowered the less privilege and he is very resourceful adding that he is the only person that can give the ruling party a run for their money.

According to Isibor, “Members of the group highlighted the various qualities of the senator who is an aspirant of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election this year 2024 as an astute personality, very resourceful, easily accessible, a great philanthropist whose desire always is to empower the less privilege in the society, he built and renovated many schools and rehabilitated many roads.

“We found him worthy of CRPP award last year 2023 for his people oriented welfare projects.

“We are therefore appealing to his party, APC leadership to consider giving free hand to the delegates to elect senator Okpebholo to fly the governorship flag of APC as the man who can confront and defeat the outgoing governor Obaseki’s godson, Asue Ighodalo”

Isibor, further accused the state governor, Godwin Obaseki of playing the role of a godfather to Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant.

We condemned the outgoing governor for using all available means to impose Asue Ighodalo on his party, the PDP.

He said, Edo people have rejected godfatherism in Edo State, never again are we going to allow any person to impose unknown technocrat on us again, once beating, twice shy.

While appealing to the party (APC) to do needful, Isibor added that Senator Okpebholo will turn the state economy around for the betterment of the people if given the chance.
