The Edo state chapter of the All progressive congress ,APC, has stated that the party will not be participating in the the proposed local government elections scheduled to hold on the 19th of April 2020.
Edo state government recently inagurared the election umpire, Edo State Independent Election Commission, EDSIES.
The APC’s position was disclosed by the State publicity Secretary of the party,Barr
Peter Uwadiae Esq at a press conference in Benin.
According to publicity Secretary everything tend to wrong about the election in terms of funding, Time frame and legality of the election.
On funding, the party spokesperson said there’s is no provisional budget for the conduct of election in the state’s appropriation in the state 2020 budget.
Further more, the party queries the logic behind the amendment of the electoral law by the legislative arm to reduced the number of days for campaign as enshrined in the electoral act.
