Edo APC Dismisses PDP Claim Of Registering 111,455 Members In Edo .

BY IKHILI EBALU, BENIN CITY.

The All Progressives Congress, APC said the claim by the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), that 111,455 persons were registerd during their recent e- registration excercise in the state is laughable.

In a release made available to journalists in Benin City ,and signed by its Assistant State Publicity Secretary , Victor Ofure Osehobo, said, the PDP Which became disorganized following the siege on its leadership and membership by Governor Godwin Obaseki is laying claim to a new members list of 111,455 persons in Edo state.

Osehobo, said, ” the figure is not up to 1% of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) list of 1.72 million eligible voters in the state. No doubt it was merely cooked up in the macabre PDP style to disguise a failed exercise.

According to him, “Whatever happened to the claims by Mr Anselm Ojezua that he was leading over 150,000 of his supporters to the PDP in September 2020? Perhaps these stranded albeit ghost supporters must have lost faith in the capacity of the PDP to accommodate them?

“By laying claim to only 111,455 voters compared to the INEC approved voters, either as old or new members in the state, the PDP has come to its wit’s end, having realized that Edo people and even their members do not have confidence in Governor Obaseki-led e-registration committee of the fizzling party.

“For a party that abandoned its membership drive because Nigerians in the state did not show any interest in the exercise following the manifest failure of the Governor who claims to have spent five years laying the foundation for the development of the state, this figure is fictitious and ridiculous.

He said, ” it shows the PDP in the state is becoming defunct, with the impending defection of the state deputy governor and is now impotent and can no longer engage in legitimate political activities given the collapse of its structures across the state.

He stated, “that PDP government in Edo state is mortgaging our commonwealth with spurious MOUs and other vices, which makes it impossible for any well-meaning Edo person to seek to identify with it.

While the PDP in Edo awaits its final descent, the APC, however, urges Edo people to remain calm and continue to keep hope alive because the misrule of the PDP in the state will soon come to an end.

Concluding that, “Edo people expect Governor Obaseki to open up on how he plans to repay the over $250million debt he has incurred on behalf of the state, since he took office, according to the Debt Management Office, Abuja.
