Ebonyi Tops in Implementation of International Public Sector Accounting Standards – Auditor General

The Auditor General of Ebonyi State Mr Uduma Samuel Udu has adjudged the State as the best in the implementation of International public sector accounting standard across the federation.
The auditor general disclosed this at the presentation of the 2023 Ebonyi State Citizen’s accountability report in Abakaliki, the State Capital.
Uduma noted that the citizen’s forum was organized to keep major stakeholders and the citizenry of the State abreast of what Government is doing as regards the framework expenditure appropriated in the 2023 fiscal year or budget which according to him shows that Government is not hiding anything from the public.
He urged all and sundry to avoid spreading rumours they can’t give any prove as it concerns how Government Spends money.
He added that the accountability report justifies honesty and transparency in governance under the leadership of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in the State and however commended Gov. Nwifuru for his decision not to borrow money to execute projects in the State.
The Chairman of Ebonyi House of Assembly committee on public account Hon. Godwin Abiri said the audit report demostrated the commitment of the State Government to ensure accountability in governance and engagement of citizens in public accounting.
The pioneer auditor General of the State and traditional ruler of Ndiechi Ezzainyimegu community Barr. Boniface Ezzagu and immediate past auditor general Chief Innocent Nweda lauded the State Governor chief Francis Nwifuru for running all inclusive government. They also thanked the present auditor general of the State for his transparency in handling affairs of the office.
The State Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress Professor Ogugua Egwu described Ebonyi as a progressive State and called for more engagement of organized labour, civil society organization and citizens in generating inputs both in the preparation process and implementation.
The Executive director safe motherhood ladies association Dr. Ugo Uduma advocated for a holistic approach to reduce the effect of tax payment on citizens while Mr Oliver Chima and Mr Victoria Eze among others stressed the need to ensure equity in siting of projects and appreciated the State Government for its oriented Development programmes and policies.
One of the participants Mr Henry Nwali appreciated the citizens accountability forum and appealed for its sustenance.
Participants at the presentation of the citizens accountability report were drawn from civil society organization, traditional institutions, organized labour, ministries among others
