The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Engr Jude Okpor has pledged to utilise his office to partner with practicing journalists for the overall interest of the state.
The Commissioner made the pledge while receiving the executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ebonyi State Council in his office.
He said that the Ebonyi state government under the watch of Governor Francis Nwifuru considers NUJ Ebonyi state council as a very strong and worthy ally as well as a stable partner in the development of the State.
He expressed his disposition to a continued partnership with journalists to ensure that the letters of Governor Nwifuru’s Manifesto, christened the “Peoples Charter of Needs” were implemented to the benefit of the people of the state.
The Ebonyi State Information boss appreciated the journalists for their prompt and wide reportage of government activities and encouraged them to always consider the corporate image of the state while reporting events in the state, and promised that he would run an open door policy where every stakeholder in the media profession would be carried along.
He explained that Governor Nwifuru’s led government will continue to ensure that people were adequately informed about government policies and programmes by providing an enabling environment for working journalists in the state.
In his remarks, the new Chairman of NUJ, Ebonyi state council, Comrade Samson Nwafor said they were in his office to congratulate him on his appointment as the Commissioner for Information.
Nwafor appreciated the governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru describing the appointment of Mr Okpor as Commissioner for Information and Orientation, as an added benefit to the youth of the state.
The Chairman assured the Commissioner of their readiness to closely work with the government by informing the public about government policies and programmes and further solicited his continuous disposition towards a fruitful partnership.
Also on the visit were the immediate past chairman of the union, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Information and Communication Technology, ICT, Comrade Tony Nwizi, as well as the top management members of the Ministry.
