Ebonyi Governor Calls For Synergy Among Security Agencies To Fight Insecurity In S/East

Ebonyi State Governor Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has called for the synergy among security agencies to tackle security challenges in South East Zone of the Country.

Governor Nwifuru made the call when he received in his office, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone Nine, Mr. Echeng Eworo Echeng who was in Ebonyi State on a one day working visit to the State Police Command.

The Zone Nine Police force, which comprises of Ebonyi, Abia and Imo States, has its headquarters located at Umahia in Abia State.

Playing host to the visitor, the Governor, Chief Francis Ogbanna Nwifuru, commended the Nigerian Police Force for their intelligent security watch over lives and property of the citizens.

He said South East Zone is faced with security challenges ranging from insurgency, kidnapping, robbery and many more but expressed confidence that the Police would summount the challenges.

Governor Nwifuru while commending the AIG for his effort in combatting crimes in the zone, appreciated the immediate past Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State command, Mr. Sunday Olaleye for his gallant security watch in the State during his reign as Commissioner and the present Commissioner, Mrs. Agustina Ogbodo for ensuring peaceful atmosphere in the State since she assumed office as Police Commissioner.

He called on the authorities of the Nigerian Police Force to see to the promotion and welfare of their personnels for better output.

Earlier in his address, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone Nine, Mr. Echeng Eworo Echeng, said he was in the State on a one day working visit and to congratulate the Governor on his victory at the polls.

Mr. Echeng said Ebonyi State is the most peaceful State in South East and called for synergy and cooperation of all and sundry to fight insecurity in the zone to a stand still.

He said the Police is ever ready to ensure that lives and property of Ebonyi people are well secured and solicited the assistance of the Governor on welfare and logistics for more productivity.

The Governor was joined in receiving the AIG and his entourage by his Deputy, Princess Patricia Obila, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Grace Umezurike, State Executive Council Members and Principal officers of Government among others.
