Ebonyi Assembly Deputy Leader Pays School Fees for Varsity Students, Empower Others

The Deputy Leader of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Joseph Ununu has paid the school fees of over eleven University students who are under his scholarship scheme for their third year academic study and also empowered over twenty one constituents with N100, 000 each to improve their means of livelihood.

He performed the function at his Abakaliki residence, shortly after a thanksgiving service at HAMA ministry located at Egwudinagu Ishieke in Ebonyi Local Government Area of the State.

The students and empowerment beneficiaries were drawn from the seven wards that made up of Abakaliki South Constituency.

Addressing newsmen shortly after disbursing the cash to the respective beneficiaries, the lawmaker said that his objective of empowering the people was to complement the efforts of the Ebonyi State Governor Chief Francis Nwifuru towards achieving his adminstration peoples charter of needs mantra as well as to help the people in cushioning the effect of the fuel subsidy removal currently hitting hard on the masses and assured of his administration readiness to come up with programmes that would touch his constituents positively in due course.

The lawmaker who represents Abakaliki South Constituency, urged the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously and as well take their studies seriously as he is ready to sponsor those who wish to proceed for their master degree after graduation.

Speaking further, the deputy leader commended Governor Nwifuru for his landmark achievements in the state within eight months in office and prayed God to lift him higher in the nearest future, while urging his follow lawmakers to cultivate the habit of helping their constituents as that would pave way for more bigger positions.

At HAMA Ministry which situated at Egwudinagu Ishieke in Ebonyi LGA, the lawmaker expressed gratitude to God for making it possible for him to be relected for second time in office and appreciated the founder of the Ministry Rev. Fr. Benjamin Agbo whom God used to perfect his reelection bid and healing of aged long sickness.

The lawmaker in a joyful mood announced the payment of WAEC and JAMB fees to three students from the church and expressed readiness to engage them into his scholarship scheme to attend University of their choice.

He however made donation of solar lights, undisclosed cash among over valuable items.

Earlier in a sermon, the Spiritual Director of HAMA Ministry Egwudinagu Ishieke in Ebonyi LGA Rev. Fr. Benjamin Agbo called all and sundry to follow God who always keep his commandment and fulfillment of his promises even in the time of challenges to better their lot.

He appreciated the lawmaker for his dedication and commitment to Godly activities which according to him remains the best for one to achieve success in life and prayed God to bless him with good health, long life, prosperity as well as more higher positions.

Speaking, the chairman of APC in Abakaliki Local Government Area Hon. Paulinus Attam commended the lawmaker for his philanthropic dispositions shown on his people, describing it as democracy in action.

He charged the appointees of the Deputy leader to rise to their responsibilities to justify the confidence reposed on them by the lawmaker as one good turn deserves another and also charged the beneficiaries to make good use of the money in their own best interest.

In an interview, one of the beneficiaries Comrade Ojike Emmanuel appreciated the benefactor for his kind gesture, describing his benevolence as the first of its kind in the constituency and assured him of his continued support for the success of his administration.

He challenged political office holders in the State to emulate the philanthropic spirit of the lawmaker to better lives of the people of the State.

Some of the beneficiaries including Hon. Alice Nwojiji, Clement Opoke, Monday Nwibo, among others commended the lawmaker for given them the opportunity to benefit from his administration, describing the kind gesture as worthwhile and assured him of their unflinching support and solidarity towards the success of his administration and wished him more bigger positions in the nearest future.

The Deputy leader was accompanied to the thanksgiving service by his aides, friends and well wishers.
