Ebonyi APC Secretary Pays Tuition Fees For 33 Varsity Students

The Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Chief Charles Chukwuma Ofoke has paid the school fees of University Students who are under his scholarship foundation with one hundred thousand naira each amounting to over over 3.3 million naira.

The beneficiaries were drawn from twenty eight villages in Ezzainyimegu Community.

Handing over the cash to the students at his Country home Ndioke-edda village in Izzi Local Government Area of the State, the party chieftain said he decided to assist the students in their academic pursuit considering the present economic hardship in the Country so as to ameliorate their plights, stating that it would run till their graduation.

He added that the scholarship scheme is an extension of Onwa Oferekpe foundation piloted by the pragmatic Governor of Ebonyi State Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

Chief Ofoke encouraged the students to show high level of commitment and dedication to their studies by striving to be the best in their various field of studies as education remains the bedrock to success in the society.

However, he disclosed his intention to engage more under graduates in his foundation especially those studying professional courses in Ezzainyimegu Community towards changing the educational narratives of people of the area.

He enjoined parents in the Community to do everything within their reach to train their children in the school for a better society, noting that he would distribute farm inputs to elders and village heads in the Community by June this year.

The Chairman of Charles/Rosemary Ofoke scholarship foundation Hon. Chijioke Nwuzor expressed gratitude to God for raising such capacity leader in the Community and commended the party chieftain for his philanthropic disposition on the students and urged the beneficiaries to utilize the money judiciously to achieve the set objectives.

The Secretary of the foundation Mr Olodo Boniface eulogized the APC Secretary for impacting on the lives of the students positively.

He revealed that Chief Ofoke had earlier last year gave scholarship to over 20 students and paid WEAC and NECO fees to over 100 students, describing the kind gesture as second to none in the Community.

Also Mr Kelvin Nwogbodo who chronicled the numerous help the APC chieftain has rendered to the people of the Community including offsetting of medical bills of indigent patients, called on political office holders and wealthy individuals in the Society to emulate such generosity.

In their seperate speeches, the chairman of Obegu Ette Mr Sunday Mbam, representative of the Chairman of Ezzainyimegu Community Mr Okanagba Sylvester, Mr Nwamkpuma Godwin among others applauded the benefactor for his kind gesture, describing it as democracy in action.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Nelson Uguru who is in the department of medicine and surgery in Ebonyi State University appreciated the benefactor for assisting them and assured never to disappoint him while praying God to him abundantly.
