The Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning in Kogi State, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, has extended warm Easter greetings to Christians across Kogi State, Nigeria, and beyond, as they commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In a goodwill message personally signed and made available to journalists on Sunday, the Honourable Commissioner described Easter as a profound cornerstone of the Christian faith, symbolizing Christ’s ultimate sacrifice for the redemption of mankind and His victory over sin and death.
Asiru Idris noted that the season presents a solemn opportunity for reflection, renewal, and reaffirmation of faith, urging Christians to imbibe the virtues exemplified by Jesus Christ—love, humility, sacrifice, and forgiveness—in their daily lives.
He called on the faithful to embrace the spirit of hope and spiritual rebirth that Easter represents, while seeking divine guidance through the Holy Spirit to fully understand the significance of the resurrection and its transformative power.
The Honorable Commissioner further commended Christians who observed the Lenten season, acknowledging their commitment to fasting, prayer, and self-discipline. He encouraged them to sustain these virtues beyond the season as pathways to personal growth and stronger devotion.
Addressing broader national concerns, Asiru Idris urged citizens to continue offering prayers for leaders at all levels, as well as for peace, unity, and economic stability in Kogi State and Nigeria at large. He stressed the importance of collective responsibility in fostering progress and development.
He also used the occasion to appeal for continued support for the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, noting that sustained cooperation from the people remains vital for the successful delivery of good governance and developmental initiatives in the state.
While congratulating Christians on witnessing another Easter celebration, the Commissioner emphasized the need to extend love and kindness to the less privileged, encouraging acts of charity and compassion in line with the teachings and example of Jesus Christ.
“As we celebrate this sacred season, let us remember those in need and share in the spirit of giving, unity, and peace that defines Easter,” he stated.
