Nigerians have been asked to see early detection as Key to the prevention of cancer.
The Patron of Civil Society Organization On Cancer Eradication in Nigeria, Kogi State Chapter, Dr. Femi Akande made the call at a sensitization walk to mark the 2022 World Cancer Day in Lokoja, asked them to make regular testing to detect the disease a regular habit.

The sensitization walk by Civil Society Organization On Cancer Eradication in Nigeria, Kogi State Chapter,
was in Collaboration with Lift Above Poverty Organization, LAPO with the THEME: Close the Gap, advised Nigerians to always get screened for breast, prostate, cervical cancer.
He noted every man, women, Children are at at risk, pointing out that the risk increases with age for men, but said with early detection, it can be cured.
He said people should always visit the hospital for regular check, said with simple blood test if people notice any symptoms, cancer if detected early can be cured.
In her remarks, State Coordinator, Civil Society Organization On Cancer Eradication in Nigeria, Mrs Roseline Alabi, said every woman is at risk of cervical cancer, lamented that WHO estimates that 14,943 women are yearly diagnosed with cervical cancer while 10,403 die even though the disease is preventable.
She further appealed for support for Grace Abdulganiyu who was treated for Ovarian Cancer recently, said she needs to still undergo chemotherapy for another five months to be free from the disease.
She expressed appreciation to Gov. Yahaya Bello for his support to Mrs. Grace Abdulganiyu and others like Mr. Femi Akande, who have assisted cancer patients, appealed to the Governor and other well meaning individuals to continue with their support for cancer patients.
In his remarks, Mr. Ogbuagu Basil Nwadinobi, Regional Manager Middle Belt, Lift Above Poverty, said this year’s theme: Close the Gap, has become necessary as earlier detection and treatment remains key to preventing Cancer.
