Dual Care and HIV Prevention Initiative Holds Monthly Nutritional Support Program

The Monthly Nutritional Support Program organised by Dual Care and HIV Prevention Initiative has been held with the Centre For Integrated Health Program CIHP, disclosing that it is focussing more on achieving viral load suppression amongst children and adolescents as it major priority.

Mrs Justina David of Centre for Integrated Health Program in charge of Care and Treatment, made the disclosure at the monthly Nutritional Support program organised by Dual Care and HIV Prevention Initiative held in Lokoja.

Mrs. Justina expressed the concern of CIHP to the reduction of viral load suppression of children and adolescents, said it is only when such is achieved would the fight against containing the spread of Hiv/Aids would be seen as realizable.

Dual Care and HIV Prevention Initiative for the concern and support to Hiv and Aids children and adolescents, assured of support and partnership that would assist in ensuring reduction in viral load.

She lauded lauded the support of DUAL Care and HIV Prevention Initiative to orphans, vulnerable children, assured of the support of CIHP towards ensuring that care and treatment for the concerned persons is not interrupted.

Mrs Justina equally mentioned that CIHP was ready to offer support to implementing partners in the area of Educational, nutritional, counselling and capacity building, urged DUAL Care and HIV Prevention Initiative to take the advantage of the many programs of support offered by CIHP.

She equally promised CIHP in curbing Gender Based Violence, promised to work and offer support to organization that are passionately committed to helping to reduce the challenges facing children and adolescents infected and affected by HIV and aids.

Earlier in her welcome remarks, Pastor Mrs Roseline Alabi, Executive Director, Dual Care and HIV Prevention Initiative, said the monthly support for OVC PLWHIV in the State is focussing on reducing vulnerability among the vulnerable.

She equally added that it is also to support the government of Kogi State to implement it National plan of action on OVC by developing and strengthening communities, individuals to respond to OVC issues.

The Executive Director disclosed that while the National HIV prevelence rate is 1.4%, that of Kogi State she maintained is 0.9%, thanked the implementing partners for contributing to the drastic reduction through multi sectoral approach.

The Executive Director expressed appreciation to Gov. Yahaya Bello, Executive Secretary KOSACA, Aids Health Care Foundation Centre for Integrated Health Programs for their contribution in partnering with Kogi State Government for their sustainable health programs.

The Executive Director appreciated the home grown school feeding program for their Initiative in reaching out to the vulnerable children in communities of Kogi State, thanked the Commissioners for the Ministry of Women Affairs, Health and Information for their Passion for the monthly program.

Still on appreciation, the Executive Director thanked Kogi State STETSCOM, Sister Ambassador Tobi Tijani, Kogi State NGO Network, CISHAN, AONN for their sustainable activities in ensuring that orphans and the vulnerable children are cared for in Kogi State.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Health and the Commissioner for Women Affairs while all represented at the occasion, all lauded the efforts of Dual Care and HIV Prevention Initiative, with assurances of support and partnership.

Highlights of the program was the official distribution of the monthly Nutritional Support to the targeted beneficiaries.
