The Kogi State area controler of the Department of Petroleum Resource DPR, Paul Yaro Jezhi has disclosed that the Department as shut down indefinitely the operations of three retailing Stations for dispensing fuel to the public over Government approved price.
Paul Jezhi made this disclosure to Newsmen in Lokoja on friday following the outcry of Nigerians and Kogi people as they encountered tough and harsh cost of living in the purchase of food stuff due to the astronomical increase of premium motor spirit (PMS)also known as Petroleum products
The State DPR boss remarked that his line men made an un-scheduled survilliance visit to some retailing Stations in Lokoja thursday, where it was discovered that some filling Stations dispensed the products over the fixed price of 163 to 165,167 and 168-per litre.
He also disclosed that a particular retailing Station sells at the normal price of 163 and 162 per litre insisting that the Department will not rest on its shoulders by monitoring the activities of filling Stations to enable them operates within the ambit of the law.
“The Department yesterday carried out and intensified our routine survilliance to some retailing Stations to monitor their activities due to rumou making round and misconception which
made them to adjust their pump price and to ensure that the affected filling Stations revert back to the approved price’.
Paul Yaro Jezhi, further maintained that the Federal Government has not announced any official increase in the sales of Petroleum products and any retailing Station found wanting in the act will be brought to book to serve as deterrent to others that may cut in the unwholesome acts.
‘The Department will not hesistate to protect and defend the interest of the citizens and we are always determined to create favourable environment to retailing Stations to do their legimate business as adhere strictly to law.”
