Nigerians have been asked to elect a unifier and believer in one Nigeria as President in 2023 and not an ethnic jingoists.
The Convener Congress For Better Nigeria, Barr Zachaeus Dare Michael made the insistence in a statement issued to Newsmen, lamented that the recent declaration by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to aspire as the nation’s President shows that he does not believe in one Nigeria.
The Convener explained that in 1997, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was quoted to have said he does not believe in one Nigeria, said it is reason why he would seek to aspire for Presidency knowing fully well that a Yoruba man in person of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, from South West was President of Nigeria between 1999-2003.
The Convener equally drew the attention of Nigerian’s to the fact that not too long Good luck Jonathan from the South ruled for six years, said the action of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to declare without considering other Sectional interest that should strive towards unity of the country shows that he does not believe in one Nigeria.
Barr. Dare called on Nigerian’s to shun ethnic jingoists seeking to lead the country, urged them to support the aspiration of Gov. Yahaya Bello who believes in the unification of Nigera, said he has proven that by uniting the people of the State in the last six years as Governor.
Barr. Dare described Gov. Bello as a believer in one Nigeria, said he has united the different segments of the State that was balkanized along divisive lines when he assumed office, pointing out today the people are united without lines of sentiments.
Barr. Dare maintained that for a man who said he does not believe in the unity of Nigeria in 1997 to hurriedly declare not minding the unification sentiments of the country, has once proven again in 2022 that he has not changed, still wants to be president along divisive lines and not in the unification interest of Nigeria.
He concluded by describing Gov. Yahaya Bello as one who amongst all the contenders for Presidency, understands the language of the Youths, urged the people to reject the aspiration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as it is not in the unification interest of Nigeria and its people.
