Dignitaries, friends, family honour Late Madam Florence Awoniyi … As Gov. Bello, Ex. Gov. Ibro, Capt. Wada, Kutepa, Ogbeha attend funeral service.


It was a gathering of dignitaries, family and friends on Friday at the funeral service for the
Late Madam Florence Awoniyi, wife of Late Sunday Olunruduro Awoniyi, the Aro of Mopa, Former Chairman, Arewa Consultative Forum, Foundation Member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The death of Late Madam Florence occurred on 8th May 2023 at the Evercare Hospital, Lekki, Lagos, after a brief illness.

The Funeral Service was held at First Baptist Church, Ileteju, Mopa, Mopamuro LGA, Kogi State.

Late Madam Florence was born in Mopa, Mopamuro LGA on the 31st August 1940 died at age 82.

Dignitaries at the Funeral Service include: Gov. Yahaya Bello, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, Capt Idris Wada, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isa Kutepa, Hon. Dino Melaye, Hon. Sunday Karimi, Hon. Sunday Faleke, Hon. Sam Abenemi,  Kola Ologbondiyan, Richard Akanmode, Shola Oja, Barr. Henry Ojuola, Funsho Daniyan.

Others in attendance were Otunba Rowland Ataguba, Prince Razak Adewole, Hassan Salau, Sam Uhoutu, Hon. Sam Aro, Hon. Musa Ahmodu, Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede, Kabiru Shaibu, Tajudeen Ibrahim, Sam Abenemi, Julius Arojojoye, Ayo Joseph, Stephen Olorunfemi, TJ Faniyu, AK Salihu, Shola Ojo, Mrs Foloshade Joseph, Tunde Ogbeha, Abiodun Ojo, Hon. Sunday Faleke, DCOS, Niyi Olayemi, Dr. Mrs Ayoade Folashade Arike.

Also present were Engr. Sam Uhoutu, Barr. Bola Fabola, Hon. Eric Fiki, with several others cutting across all the political divide, amongst others.

In a message at the Church Service, Reverend Joshua Ige of First Baptist Church, in his message titled
” A Limit we cannot exceed”, called on Nigerians to be more concerned about their  actions while alive, pointing out that there is a judgement day.

The Clergy man urged people to live godly lives so as to see God on judgement, cautioned that whatever achievements man accomplishes on earth will end up here, reason why living life should be about humanity, urge the congregation to be deliberate towards making heaven.

The Clergyman notes that the day of reckoning is near, urged men to repent and turn to God, insisting that whatever man does, whether good or bad, he will be held accountable.

Speaking, former Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, former Kogi State Governor, described
death as inevitable, says it would come when it will come, described the late Madam Florence as a complete mother.

Similarly, Capt Idris Wada described late Madam Florence as a pillar of support when he was Governor, said her wise counsel would be greatly missed.

In his remarks, Sen. Tunde Ogbeha described the passing away of Madam Florence as a shocking, said the death came at a time when her wise counsel would have been most needed to move the State and nation forward.

For Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede, urged the family left behind by the late Madam Florence to take solace in her good works, described her as a complete mother.

Prince Olushola Akanmode said: “She was a good-hearted person who truly loved helping others. She was an amazing mother said God should grant the children comfort.

Late Madam Florence was later intered at the premises of Boja Industries, Limited, Arifun Industrial Estate, Mopa.
