The Member Representing Kabba Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency Hon, T.J. Yusuf, has congratulated Nigerians on the celebration of the Nation’s democracy day, with a call on the need to respect fundamental and human rights.
The Lawmaker in a message he sent to the Nigerianpost, said the democracy would only make meaning if the tenets of democracy are respected and enforced.
According to the statement:
” As we collectively commemorate #DemocracyDay, I urge all Nigerians to continue to celebrate our fundamental human rights and freedoms, which are constitutionally guaranteed but constantly being threatened.
In this era, both citizens and their representatives in public office must rise to the occasion by defending and protecting the adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic.
We must resist any and all attempts to sidestep or bypass our laws. This is because, like every democracy, Nigeria must start to become a nation of strong laws and institutions, not a nation that is governed by the whims of strong men”, he concluded.
