Democracy Day: Hon. Mark OKPANACHI Ogah Calls for Unity, Responsible Leadership
…Says democracy must deliver real impact to the people
Hon. Mark OKPANACHI Ogah has urged Nigerians to recommit to the values of unity, accountability, and inclusive governance as the country marks this year’s Democracy Day.
In a goodwill message to commemorate June 12, Hon. Mark described democracy as the most powerful vehicle for people-driven development, but emphasized that it gains can only be sustained through sincerity of purpose, civic participation, and purposeful leadership.
He paid glowing tribute to the heroes and martyrs of Nigeria’s democracy, especially those who championed the struggle for civil liberties and electoral justice, saying their sacrifices must never be taken for granted.
“June 12 represents more than a date; it is a reminder of our collective resolve to choose freedom, equity, and the rule of law over oppression,” Hon. Mark stated. “As leaders and citizens, we must ensure that democracy is not just symbolic, but practical in the lives of our people.”
He called on government at all levels to prioritize policies that reduce poverty, promote education, empower youth, and improve access to basic infrastructure, especially in rural communities.
Hon. Mark OKPANACHI Ogah also stressed the importance of unity and national cohesion, warning that political divisions and insecurity must not be allowed to erode the foundations of democratic progress.
“As we celebrate this important day, let us unite to build a future defined by justice, peace, and opportunity for all,” he added.
Hon Mark OKPANACHI Ogah reaffirmed his commitment to quality representation, legislative service, and grassroots development, promising to continue advocating for the needs of Idah federal constituency people within and beyond.
