Indications have emerged to strenghten the claim of RT. Hon. Francis Sheriff Oborevwori to remaining the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State amidst speculations that the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has accepted David Edevbie as the lawful candidate of the PDP.

Edevbie was conspicuously absent at a crucial meeting of the National Working Committee led by the PDP National Chairman of the party Sen. Ayorchia Ayu and PDP governorship candidates at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday.

There is a strong feeling that Edevbie’s candidacy may not have been recognized by the party as Hon. Francis Sheriff Oborevwori was the man who was at the meeting where other aspirants of the party in the states discussed issues bordering on strengthening and raising the stakes of the party ahead of 2023.
Reports are that this is the first NWC caucus meeting with the aspirants convened by the party that Francis Sheriff would be attending after his victory was contested at the court.

With the belief that the party has upheld his candidacy, the call by Edevbie’s men urging the party and INEC to drop Francis Sheriff as the legitimate flag bearer of the party pending the determination on court, has gathered strength.
