By joshua CUSTECH Vice-Chancellor Commends TETFund’s Transformational Impact on Tertiary Education
The Vice-Chancellor of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, has commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for its immense contributions to the growth and development of tertiary education in Nigeria.
The Vice-Chancellor gave the commendation on Saturday 29th August, 2026, when he received the TETFund Board of Trustees member representing the North-Central Zone, Dr. Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi, in his office at CUSTECH, Osara.
Engr. Prof. Salawu noted that the various interventions of TETFund have significantly improved teaching, learning, research and infrastructure across the Nigerian university system.
The Chief Executive Officer of the University particularly appreciated TETFund for believing in CUSTECH at its formative stage, recalling that when the University was established in 2021 and was yet to commence academic activities with students, the Fund released intervention support for the construction of three Faculty buildings and a 500-seater Lecture Theatre.
According to him, the intervention was a demonstration of TETFund’s commitment to supporting the efforts of the Kogi State Government towards the establishment and development of the new University.
“Since then, CUSTECH has continued to benefit from one TETFund intervention or another, and these interventions have contributed immensely to the rapid growth and development of the University,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
Engr. Prof. Salawu appealed to the Fund to consider the full solar powering of the University’s College of Basic Medical Sciences, while also requesting support for the completion of the Central Engineering Workshop, which is currently in need of urgent intervention.
Responding, the TETFund Board of Trustees member representing the North-Central Zone, Dr. Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi, commended the remarkable growth and progress recorded by CUSTECH within its relatively short period of existence.
Dr. Ocholi expressed satisfaction with the level of infrastructural development and academic progress at the University, noting that the institution had made impressive strides within just six years of its establishment.
He assured the Vice-Chancellor and the Management of the University that the requests presented by the institution would receive due consideration, adding that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would continue to ensure that the education sector receives the necessary attention and support.
The TETFund Board member also appealed for the continued support of Nigerians for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Earlier, Dr. Ocholi explained that his visit to CUSTECH was aimed at assessing completed and ongoing projects funded by TETFund, as well as identifying the infrastructural needs of the University for possible intervention.
The Vice-Chancellor later led the delegation on an inspection tour of the TETFund-sponsored Anatomy Building, which he said played a significant role in strengthening the University’s facilities during its medical and dental accreditation exercise.
