Kogi State Government on Thursday expressed satisfaction over the ongoing rehabilitation and renovation work and supply of materials at the newly established Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara in Adavi LGA of the state.
The State’s Commissioner of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones, FCIB, stated this while addressing newsmen after he led a team from his ministry, Ministry of Works and Housing, and the Auditor General’s Office, to inspect the ongoing work at CUSTECH campus in Osara, Adavi LGA.
The commissioner noted that the state Government had earlier at the beginning of the job, gave a stern warning to the contractors on the need to adhere strictly to all the specifications indicated in the bill of quantity.
”What we have come to do today is to confirm and verify that these specifications were strictly adhered to, and to also determine and ascertain the level of completion.
”I am very very satisfied with the level of work done, because from all indications, I think we are like 85 per cent gone.
”We are almost good to go, given another one week, I am sure some of the buildings would have been handed over.
”We have different contractors working because we broke the job into lots to ensure and guarantee quick completion which had paid off, because if we had given it to a single contractor it would have taken a longer period of time, so it had paid off massively.
”’Maximum two weeks, I am sure you will not find any contractor on this campus again”, Jones said.
The Commissioner, therefore restated that academic activities would start in earnest as soon as everything is completed and the State Government received the necessary feedback from National University Commission (NUC).
Also speaking, the Project Consultant, Builder Islameen Etudaiye, noted that the joint site inspection by the relevant MDAs was quite an interesting experience.
According to Etudaiye, we were able to capture things that were not captured at the point of implementation, so it is very interesting and all their observations are going to be effected as soon as possible.
”So far, we are at 85 pee cent completion of the project, and within the next seven days, we should be done”, the consultant said.
The Commissioner was also accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Pastor Emmanuel Idenyi, and the Director Project, Mr Moses Ameh, of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, who both commended the consultant and the contractors for work done so far.
