CRPP Commends Governor Okpebholo For His People Oriented Actions
By Ikhili Ebalu, Benin City
The Coalition Of Registered Political Parties, (CRPP), has commended the executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo for the people oriented actions he has taken since he resumed office a few weeks ago.
The National Chairman of CRPP, Dr. Samson Isibor, said the most commendable is the suspension of the Market Unions and Associations that have been making life unbearable to the common man through their undue hijacking of farm produce from the rural areas to the urban market .
Dr. Isibor who stated this in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Benin City said “Prices of commodities have changed beyond the reach of the ordinary man such as the staple foods like garri rice, plantain, beans, corn, pepper, tomatoes, vegetables etc.
“It is to the delight of the people and relief of the masses to see all these food prices have crashed since the governor proscribed the different unions and the activities of these unscrupulous market unions and associations.
We therefore appreciate the Governor for taking the bull by the horn, and exhibited the political will by suspending the so called unions who do not allow the real owners of the produce to sell in the market.
“Immediately after the governor pronouncement suspending these wicked market unions, the market forces came down like park of cards to the reach of the impoverished common man in the state.
“The CRPP had earlier pleaded with Governor to deal with these anti masses market unions and associations which he has done without wasting time. This act shows Okpebolo is a listening Governor, kudos to him.
“He should go further to constitute a committee to oversee and monitor the markets in case there may be defiant groups of people who wouldn’t comply with the directive of the Governor should be arrested and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.
“The Governor should set up forest Rangers to give the farmers security to go to their farms to produce food for Edo people. This is to checkmate the activities of the killer Fulani herdsmen and kidnappers who are all over our forests kidnapping our people for ransom or eventually kill them in some cases.
While appealing to Governor Okpebholo to look beyond his party to appoint capable Edo sons and daughters into his government, the statement noted that, “Furthermore, the CRPP is reminding the Governor to select capable hands to help him revamp our economy in the state and to ignore the party affiliation nepotism and tribalism.
“Among this Edolite is one Emest Abegbe, a retired Federal Senior Civil Servant an expert in financing and former LP governorship candidate.
“You can count him worthy of appointment. We are advising his Excellency to count him worthy of appointment.
“Finally, we commended the Governor for righting the wrongs of Obaseki who refused to swear in the three judges. You took the bold step to swear them in and also paid the 13 months salary to civil servants which put smiles on their faces in this festive season including the reinstatement of AAU workers sacked by Obaseki”, the statement said.
