The 1st Crowther Memorial College Scout Troop, Lokoja, on Thursday inducted new members into the Scout Movement at an Investiture Ceremony for Tenderfoot Scouts held in the school premises.

The ceremony, organized by the Kogi State Scout Council of The Scout Association of Nigeria, marked the formal entry of the young boys and girls into scouting with the wearing of uniforms, presentation of scarves and recitation of the Scout Promise.

In his welcome address, the Scout Leader of the Troop, Hon. Mamman Nda Eri, described the occasion as more than a ceremonial adornment, but a first major step towards raising responsible, disciplined, courageous and service-minded citizens.

“Today is not just about wearing Scout uniforms, receiving scarves or making promises. It is about taking the first important step towards becoming responsible, disciplined, courageous and service-minded citizens,” Eri said.

He congratulated the new Tenderfoot Scouts, urging them to see scouting as a way of life anchored on honesty, loyalty, teamwork, respect and service to humanity.

“Being a Scout is not just about what you wear, but about how you live and the positive difference you make in society,” he noted.

The Scout Leader commended parents and teachers of the college for their encouragement and support, stressing that raising worthy ambassadors for families, schools and the nation remains a collective responsibility.

Eri also thanked distinguished guests, Scout Commissioners and Leaders for honouring the invitation, saying their presence was a great encouragement to the young inductees.

He emphasized that the future of society depends largely on the values instilled in children today and expressed optimism that the investiture would mark the beginning of greater achievements for the Troop.

The event was attended by Scout leaders, school management, teachers, parents and members of the Scout family in Kogi State.

The ceremony ended with the Scout motto: Be Prepared.
