The Challenged Parenthood Initiative has urged the Kogi State Police Command in ensuring that the perpetrators of those behind the burial alive of a eight year old boy in Apamisede Community of Lokoja are brought to Justice.
The Executive Director, CPI, Eunice Abimbola Agbogun, made the call in a letter requesting for urgent intervention in response to child abuse violation and attempted murder to the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command.
She also demanded for the protection of the child by removing him from the custody of his foster mother and to provide him with a safe and nurturing environment where he can rebuild his life.
The Executive Director equally requested the assistance in providing appropriate counseling and therapy to help the boy overcome his ordeal and support his emotional recovery.
The Executive Director called for a thorough investigation of the foster mother and her child, solicit a collaboration with the Police in facilitating swift response as well as to send strong message against child abuse and gender based violence in the society.
It would be recalled that the Apamisede Community, near Army Barracks Lokoja, witness a case of man’s inhumanity against man as a boy was buried alive. He was however fortunate to be exhumed by good Samaritan.
According to eyewitness account the mother of the boy was said to have directed her eldest son to punish the boy for stealing N1000.
The elder brother in executing the directive of his mother decided to bury the boy alive until the eagle eyes of good Samaritan neighbors came to his rescue.
As at time of the report the police command said the suspects excluding the mother who has gone into hiding have been arrested.
