COMR. OLORUNHUDO SAMUEL TAIWO: Let’s Promote Constructive Politics and Give Credit Where It Is Due — Senator Sunday Steve Karimi and Hon. James Abiodun Faleke Deserve Respect

19th July 2026
The call for unity, responsible political engagement, and issue-based discourse across Okunland has once again taken center stage as political advocate and social commentator, Comr. Olorunhudo Samuel Taiwo, urged stakeholders, supporters, and members of the public to embrace constructive politics rather than personal attacks against leaders who have made significant contributions to the development of the region.
According to Comr. Olorunhudo Samuel Taiwo, political differences are inevitable in every democratic society, but they should never degenerate into campaigns of disparagement, hostility, or attempts to diminish the contributions of leaders who have devoted themselves to public service. He stressed that democracy thrives when political debates are focused on ideas, performance, and policies rather than personal attacks.
He specifically highlighted the roles of Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, and Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, describing them as distinguished leaders whose commitment to public service has earned them respect across Okunland and beyond.
According to Comr. Olorunhudo Samuel Taiwo, both leaders have demonstrated unwavering dedication to the welfare of the people through developmental projects, empowerment programmes, educational support, constituency interventions, infrastructure development, humanitarian assistance, and sustained advocacy for the interests of their constituents. He noted that their contributions are evident in many communities across Okunland and Kogi State, with numerous beneficiaries who can attest to the positive impact of their leadership.
Speaking further, Comr. Olorunhudo Samuel Taiwo expressed confidence in Senator Sunday Steve Karimi’s record of service, stating that, in his opinion, the Senator has performed remarkably well in representing the entire people of Kogi West Senatorial District. He described Senator Karimi’s commitment to humanity, accessibility to the people, and dedication to delivering democratic dividends as commendable, adding that the Senator has continued to demonstrate purposeful and responsive leadership.
He further stated that Senator Karimi’s interventions in youth empowerment, educational support, community development, infrastructure, and other constituency programmes have strengthened public confidence in his leadership. According to him, these achievements have endeared the Senator to many constituents across the seven local government areas that make up Kogi West Senatorial District.
Comr. Olorunhudo Samuel Taiwo also expressed the view that Senator Karimi is well positioned for a successful re-election bid because, in his opinion, many constituents appreciate his performance in office. He maintained that, in every democratic society, it is ultimately the electorate who determine election outcomes through their votes, and encouraged all political actors to respect the will of the people as expressed at the ballot box.
He emphasized that no individual or small group should assume the role of deciding the political future of an entire constituency, stressing that the strength of democracy lies in the collective decision of the voting public. He therefore called on all stakeholders to allow the democratic process to prevail and to conduct political activities peacefully and responsibly.
Comr. Olorunhudo Samuel Taiwo further urged the sons and daughters of Okunland to remain united in pursuing the region’s common aspirations. He encouraged political actors to focus on ideas, development-oriented programmes, and policies capable of improving the welfare of the people instead of engaging in unnecessary personal attacks that could deepen divisions within the region.
He observed that unity among political leaders, stakeholders, and citizens remains indispensable for attracting greater development, strengthening the political influence of Okunland, and ensuring that the district continues to occupy its rightful place in the political and socio-economic development of Kogi State and Nigeria.
While acknowledging that every public office holder is open to public scrutiny and constructive criticism, Comr. Olorunhudo Samuel Taiwo maintained that such criticism should be fair, factual, respectful, and aimed at improving governance rather than discrediting individuals. He argued that leaders who have made meaningful contributions deserve recognition and appreciation for their service.
He concluded by appealing to all supporters, stakeholders, and members of the public to promote peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and issue-based politics, emphasizing that the collective progress of Okunland should always take precedence over personal interests and political divisions.
