By joshua COMR. OLORUNHUDO SAMUEL TAIWO CALLS FOR DIALOGUE ON OKUN GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRATION, URGES RESPECT FOR DEMOCRATIC PROCESS

Political Advocate and Social Media Commentator, Comr. Olorunhudo Samuel Taiwo, has appealed for mutual respect and constructive dialogue regarding the growing conversation on the aspiration of the Okun people to produce the Governor of Kogi State.
He made this appeal while responding to recent comments attributed to Hon. Jerry Omodara on the matter, noting that every group in a democracy has the right to express its political aspirations peacefully.
Comr. Olorunhudo said the desire of Okunland to occupy the governorship seat is a legitimate expression within democratic practice, and should be seen as part of the broader conversation on fairness, equity and inclusion in Kogi State.
He added that while it is the right of every citizen, including Hon. Omodara, to support the re-election of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, such engagements should not be used to discourage other sections from expressing their own aspirations.
“Political discourse should be guided by respect for differing opinions. The aspiration of Okunland is not about confrontation, but about seeking a sense of belonging and equal opportunity in the governance of our state,” he stated.
Comr. Olorunhudo also urged public office holders and political stakeholders who have benefited from government to be mindful of their comments, and to instead promote unity and understanding among the people. According to him, leaders have a responsibility to encourage dialogue rather than actions that could deepen divisions.
He emphasized that the call for an Okun Governor is a peaceful advocacy rooted in democratic values. The Okun people, he noted, have continued to contribute meaningfully to the development of Kogi State and deserve the opportunity to serve at the highest level.
Looking ahead to 2027, Comr. Olorunhudo said the people of Okunland remain committed to pursuing their aspiration through lawful and democratic means. However, he added that if the current political realities do not favor an Okun candidate in 2027, then it becomes necessary for sincere and open discussions to begin on how power can rotate to Okunland after the expiration of Governor Ododo’s tenure in 2031.
To build trust, he advised that any political understanding reached should be clear, transparent, and involve relevant stakeholders, so that it can inspire confidence across the state.
He further called on leaders across Kogi State to embrace conversations that promote peace, mutual respect and a sense of belonging for all. “Sustainable democracy grows when every part of the state feels carried along and fairly treated,” he said.
Comr. Olorunhudo urged sons and daughters of Okunland, regardless of political affiliation, to remain united and focused, while engaging through peaceful and constitutional channels. He also encouraged political leaders to prioritize dialogue and consensus building in the interest of the state’s stability.
In conclusion, he reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for equity, justice and inclusive governance. He expressed optimism that through mutual respect and democratic engagement, Kogi State can achieve a political future where all sections have a genuine opportunity to lead.
He appealed to all stakeholders to place the unity and progress of Kogi State above personal or sectional interests, stressing that fairness and inclusiveness remain key to lasting peace and development.
