The members of Kogi Non-Governmental Organizations Network (KONGONET) held her first Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the 7th July, 2021 with the theme “Re-Focusing CSO Networking in Kogi State”. Top on the agenda was for members to discuss and document strategies that will enhance Government and Civil Society Partnership towards achieving effective Governance in Kogi State. Discuss challenges of Civil Society Actors and Coalition building in Nigeria, Way forward and consider clause by clause reading and adoption of KONGONET revised Constitution, 2021.
Having extensively deliberated and reviewed the events of KONGONET in the past one year, *and the considerations of clause by clause reading and adoption of the revised 2021 KONGONET constitution, the General Assembly* of Kogi NGOs Network (KONGONET) hereby resolved as follows:
1. That, KONGONET *commends the Kogi State Government* for the establishment of Kogi State Youth Development Commission and *inclusion of people with capacity* on the Commission’s Board.
2. That, with the shrinking space of Civil Society Organization in the state and as well the Nation, there is need for members to synergize in line with our respective well-coordinated thematic programme areas to achieve better results in advocacy and programme implementations in the State.
3. KONGONET believes in the rule of law, tenets of democracy, inclusivity and participatory form of governance that gives ordinary man/woman, boy or girl, children and most importantly Special persons with Disabilities on the street not just to see inclusivity but the opportunity to feel the impact of inclusivity in governance processes.
4. That KONGONET will continue to call for Kogi State Government to sign into Open Government Partnership (OGP) and ensure its operationalization in the state.
5. To sustain our continuous engagement with the State Government and its agencies to ensure government is fair to all.
6. To open and maintain a robust channel of better relationship and engagements with Implementation Partners (IPs) that are in the State and will be coming into the state in the near future.
7. To call on His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State to as a matter of urgency and in the spirit of His friendly disposition to the People with Disabilities constitute the management of Persons with Disabilities office and ensure that the direct beneficiaries of the office interest are well protected.
8. KONGONET expresses its concerns and fears over *delay in signing into law the Violent Against Persons Prohibition Act (VAPP), a private member bill initiated by the Civil Society and passed by the State House of Assembly in March 2021.* *KONGONET therefore, calls on the State Governor*, as a matter of urgent priority, to assent to this bill and ensure its immediate operationalization in the State.
9. The long awaited KONGONET revised 2021 Constitution was Read clause by clause during plenary and adopted after few amendments/corrections were made and agreed by voice votes.
11. That a clean copy of the constitution shall be produced and distributed to all KONGONET members.
