Communal War: Stakeholders Of Ezza, Effium Community Signs Peace Pact, vows to ensure permanent Peace In Ebonyi

The stakeholders of Ezza and Effium Community in Ohaukwu LGA of the state has a result of the lingering communal war that rocked the area, has signed a peace pact to ensure the return of Peace and order in the area.
Recall that the war that existed between Ezza and Effium people, had claimed thousands of lives, and properties worth billions of naria destroyed, and lasted for near three years.
The peace Pact was signed by the stakeholders of Ezza, Effium during the State Government white paper presentation, that took place at the old government house Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.
The Chairman of the white paper implementation committee, Dr. Ben Uruchi Odoh, the Attorney general and commissioner for justice in the State, who spoke to newsmen shortly after the meeting, said that the governor Francis Nwifuru is committed to ensure that permanent Peace returns to Effium community.
The Commissioner commended stakeholders of Ezza and Effium Community for agreeing to give peace a chance, adding that the peace pact would go along way to strengthen the peace initiative of the State Governor Chief Francis Ogbonna in the area, while describing peace as panacea for development.
Odoh noted that the State Government will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that a lasting peace returns in Effium, and however appreciated some critical stakeholders of the area for their commitment and untiring efforts in ensuring that peace returns in the Community
He urged the people to abide by the State Government decision in their own best interest, adding that Government will organize programmes for the people, grant amnesty to the detainees at the custodian centers.
The commissioner, Odoh further charged the stakeholders to compile names of the detainees and submit same to the white paper implementation committee for profiling.
He however, disclosed the State governments readiness to reconstruct the structures of Effium high school that was damaged during the crisis.
Some of the stakeholders; the former chief judge of Ebonyi State Justice Anselem Nwigwe and Chief Nicodemus Omenka who spoke on behalf of Ezza and Effium applauded the State Governor Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for championing the peace pact in the Community.
They promised to embrace the State Government white paper implementation to ensure permanent peace in the Community.
