Communal War: Gov. Nwifuru flags off boundary demarcation of Effium, Alioma Communities in Ebonyi

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has flagged off the boundary demarcation of Effium and Alioma autonomous communities in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the State in order to ensure that permanent peace return in the area.

Recall that crisis erupted in the Community since January, 2021 which has led to the killing of many people and destruction of properties worth billions of naira.

Worried by the development, Ebonyi State Government led by Chief Francis Nwifuru decided to take the bull by the horns by separating the two sister clan through the land demarcation law made by Ebonyi State house of Assembly and signed by the Governor in Abakaliki.

Speaking at the event, Governor Nwifuru stated that the law made by Ebonyi State house of Assembly, law 004 of 2025 captioned Ebonyi State Effium and Alioma peace pact creation empowered the creation of the five autonomous Communities. The Communities are as follows Effium, Ekerigwe, Ejemu, Alioma and Ezekuna Communities.

The Governor said that each of the Community represented each ward. “The ward belongs to the Communities so you five wards in effium and the both ward have Communities of its own”

“I want to sound a serious warning to the disguised killers who pretends to be good but they are evil”

“Our job here today is to flag off the construction of 25.5 kilometers road demarcating Alioma and Effium Communities”

The Governor proclaimed that the area known as forest with the total of 978414 hectares remained Federal Government forest reserve while Effium market and its environs totaling 55616 hectares have been acquired by Ebonyi State Government for overriding public interest and warned that anybody who violated the proclamation would be treated in accordance to section seven sub section four of Ebonyi State law demarcation law.

According to him, “These section shall be strictly adhered to and any violation shall be treated in accordance to section seven sub section four of this law”

“Wrong and bad people always bring out the worst in you and not the best in you. After you have wronged, you will find yourself full of doubt, fear, confusion and criticism.

“Never receive counsel from unproductive people, never discuss your problem with someone incapable of contributing to the solution. Not everyone has the right to speak into your life, in fact let me put it this way, “Don’t follow anyone who is not going anywhere. Be careful, when you stop to enquire for direction along the road of your life. Wise is the person who fortify life with the right friendship ”. he said

The chairman of the white paper implementation committee Ambassador Frank Nchita Ogbuewu and the Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area Hon. Ikechukwu Odono hailed the State Government relentless efforts to restoring permanent peace in the war prone Community.

They urged people of the area to sheathe their swords and embrace intiative of the State Governor Chief Francis Nwifuru in their own their own best interest as meaningful development would be achieved in the atmosphere of rancour and acrimony.
