Collaborative Efforts, Speaking Out, Panacea to Stemming Rape, Sexual Abuses – Eunice Agbogun, CEO CPI.


 

A call for collaborative efforts and for Nigerians to always speak out against rape and other forms of sexual violence, has been advocated as a Panacea to Stemming the current monster that is currently facing the society.

 

The Executive Director, Challenged Parenthood Initiatives, Eunice Agbogun made the call at CEFN Zonal Headquarters Church off Ganaja road, Lokoja while delivering lecture on the topic prevention of Child abuse in Christian homes, said the panacea to checking the incidences of sexual abuses is when people speak out.

 

The Executive Director while delivering the lecture to the men of the CEFN church, said the greatest threat to Preventing sexual abuses in the society is the Culture of silence, called on the men to always speak out.

She said the pepetrators of violent abuses against women and children are able to get away with it owing to the Culture of Family Members, friends and the society shielding them, expressed satisfaction with the passage of time VAPP BILL by the Kogi State House of Assembly.

She described the victims of sexual abuses in the society as people who rely on trusted persons, urged parents to always pay listening ears and attention to victims of sexual abuses, urged them to also show support to those who have been abused.

She described pepetrators of rape and sexual abuses as people living amongst the people, Commended the CEFN for the bold Initiatives aimed at educating and sensitizing men on preventing violent abuse in Christian homes.

She described parents sighing away from Speaking out against sexual abuses to have a rethink, stating that the need for the pepetrators to be fished out and to face the punishment far outweighs stigmatization.

Earlier in a remarks, Mr. Noah Ocheni, Chairman of the men Fellowship of CEFN Zonal Headquarters Church off Ganaja road, said the Initiatives to organise the sensitization lecture stems from the rising rate of rape and other forms of sexual abuses in the society.

He added that the sensitization meeting is a proactive measures towards protecting the church, educating men in the church on the early warning signs to look out for and to deal with in preventing sexual abuses.
