The Chief Medical Director of Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja, Dr. Olatunde Alabi has assured of quality health care service delivery, insisting that the institution has quality personnel and facilities.
This is as he advised resident doctors undergoing trainings with the Hospital to avoid acts inimical to the ethics of medical profession.
The Chief Medical Director gave the advised yesterday while speaking with selected journalists in his office in Lokoja.
He noted that the residency program as a training ground for budding doctors to become specialists, would not tolerate irresponsible behaviours that affects patients and the hospital community.
Dr. Alabi explained that, residency program is meant to give the residents flexibility after successful completion of the program to either retain their services or to seek employment anywhere of their choices.
He added that the Hospital boast of enough Doctors and other Health professionals despite the Japa syndrome to successfully drive the tertiary healthcare needs of the state.
He noted that the insinuations in some quarters that resident Doctors were leaving in droves was not true as they were trainees and at the end of their training, they are at liberty to choose between retention or to move to any employment of their choices.
According to him, “we have enough medical officers, consultants, Registrars, pharmacists, Nurses , laboratory scientists and other professionals working hard at driving the Hospital to greater heights.
He however, stated that the process for employment.of more Doctors is almost completed to boost the manpower of the Tertiary medical institution, hinting that in the interim the management has employed willing doctors on locum as a stop gap pending full employment.
He disclosed that he was pivotal for the establishment of the residency scheme in the Hospital and would not do anything to joepardise his brain child now that he has opportunity of enhancing its growth.
According to him, the Hospital just like Federal Government institutions have laws guiding staff, saying membership of a union does not exclude one from obeying the rules and regulations and warned errant staff of consequences of their actions.

On the issue of call duty meal, the CMD said, he was disappointed for an employee to sack food vendor approved by the management and appointed his without considering payment.
He called on the Hospital community to continue to give their best despite insufficient resources, saying the medical profession is call to serve humanity.
