Dialogue, consultation and reconciliation have been identified as mechanism for peaceful resolution of conflict in the society.
Guest lecturer and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja, Prof Muhammed Suleiman Audu stated this at the close of Ramadan lecture series organized by Kogi State Council of Ulamaa, in Lokoja.
Prof Audu who spoke on the topic ” the concept of peace and conflict resolution in Islam” noted that Islam has emphasized the need to mitigate or resolve conflict in a manner the aggrieved parties would be satisfied.
He noted that, justice, equity and fairness were the Hallmark of peaceful conflict resolution, saying peaceful resolution in Islam is germaine.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor advised the ummah to toe the part of justice and fairness in resolving conflict using the the fundamentals of peaceful resolution mechanisms.
In a remark, Grand Khadi Sharia Court of Appeal Kogi State, Justice ABDULKARIM Aruwa noted that, peaceful resolution of conflict cut across all levels of human existence, saying even at family level, people are players of conflict resolution.
He appreciated the Council for successfully organizing the program aimed at educating the ummah on the teachings of Islam.
