The Kogi State coordinator of the Center for Integrated Health Programs (CIHP), Pharmacist Benard Akpa says one of the organization’s primary assignments was to keep the people living with HIV alive.
Pharmacist Benard Akpa stated this at the Get-together organised for them at the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCL) Medical Center Ajaokuta.
Pharmacist Akpa said ASCL medical center is one of the facilities CIHP Kogi State oversees with the people living with HIV, to monitor their welfare and health conditions.
The CIHP state coodinator added that the items donated to the people living with HIV in the area was borne out of love and passion of his staff especially during this festive season.
He said CIHP office will continue to be committed to the welfare and good health of these people in the state by keeping them alive.
Pharmacist Benard Akpa advised the society at large not to discriminate against the people living with HIV, rather urged them to keep them closer by making them belong in the scheme of things.Speaking further, Pharmacist Akpa used the medium to advise them to take the issue of covid-19 vacination seriously to avoid unnecessary complicated health challenges against them.
In a remark, the Chief Medical Director of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCL) Medical Center, Doctor Usman Abdulraman called for more support to the people living with HIV at the Center and thanked the CIHP office for the attention given to the Center.
Also speaking, the Head of Medical Laboratory Division and Coodinator- Anti Retroviral Therapy Clinic of the facility,Mrs Tom-Otu Mary said the aim of the Get-together was to keep the people living with HIV alive by identifying with them with the mind of totally discouraging stigmatization by the society.
Mrs.Tom Otu Mary said the ceremony was an annual event with the people living with HIV in the area, and called for support from the Government and wealthy, well spirited individuals to keep these people remain healthy.
Items donated by CIHP office in kogi state to them, was food stuffs and clothing worth millions of Naira.
