BRING BACK OUR FOLKTALES By Obaje Yusuf.

It is petinent to note that, children grew up to accept the reality of their environment, our environment taught us virtually everything we know and belief. A case study of ” 98 percent of us today are Muslims because our parents are, same to Christians. No doubt John would have been called Yusuf if the parent were of Muslim’s fate and Yusuf would have been called John if the parent was to be, of Christian fate too. At the end of everything you will finds out that our environment control majorly everything we do.

The nonchalant display of characters by us, the children of this modern generation is no longer inline with the unabated, indelible and emulable life of our fore fathers, we portray a different picture of them and ethnocentrism as becomes the order of the day.
WERE DID WE GET IT WRONG??
My research has reviewed that one of the major bottleneck of this present day generation is lack, and total abolishment of moonlight stories(FOLKTALES) and the rapid acceptance of social media which we regards to as technology and transformation.
FOLKTALE is a traditional domestic theatre form, that has been practiced for many generations in our land, untill our generation abandoned it.
Folktales are told at moonlight and it is meant for teaching and highlighting morality, brevity and intelligence as well as discouraging laziness and evil. Our people creatively centred the story mostly on spirits and animals, which they believed are symbolic and representative of any similar human situation.
Folktales are poetic, educative, entertaining and most especially cautionary, with themes dramatically developed and aimed at educating children and adults at home to be good ambassadors of the society they belong.
It is also the way of illuminating fear in children from endangering their lives in dubious act.During this period, children got first hand informations on the experiences of elders, and also learnt the implications of not adhering to the standard of the societal norms.
This process has continued from generation to generations, it also taught Tolerance, Patience and peaceful coexistence. Most of today’s children never had the opportunity to witness such a heartwarming engagement with our fathers, instead we learn new trends that are UnAfrica from Facebook, Twitter and Instagram e’tal, every now and then.
Trace the fault and you will be amazed, as it narrowed down to one of the many disadvantages of civilization.
MY RESOLUTION
Let us come together as one indivisible, indescribable and indissoluble nation and fight for the emancipation of our land, our heritage is the pride of our forefathers, let us not sit and watch it degenerates further, the colonists are since gone, we can not continued to blame them for our woes and failure.
