BREAKING: Kyari takes over APC, presides over NWC meeting


The Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Abubakar Kyari has taken over the leadership of the party on Monday.

The embattled Adamu has been enmeshed in controversy for not supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the presidential primary election in May, 2022.

He rather supported the former Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan.

In the last 24 hours, crisis within the fold of the APC heightened leading to conflicting reports that Adamu has resigned.

Kyari’s presiding of the National Working Committee of the APC which is the highest organ of the party has put paid to reports of Adamu’s resignation.

Around 10:40 am on Monday, the Deputy National Chairman parked in the slot reserved for the National Chairman and led a team of seven other members of the NWC to a meeting in his office.

The National Secretary of APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore who is also in the eye of the storm was however sighted at the meeting as he arrived at the APC headquarters around 11:20 am and joined others in the meeting.

Kyari came in with the Deputy National Chairman (South) Emma Enukwu; National Vice Chairman (North West) Salihu Lukman; National Vice Chairman (North East) Salihu Mustapha; National Vice Chairman (North Central) Muazu Bawa; National Vice Chairman (South West) Issacs Kekemeke; National Vice Chairman (South East) Ejoroma Arodiogu and the Deputy National Secretary, Barrister Festus Fuanter.
There is tension in and around the National Secretariat with Security agents keeping eyes on all those passing and coming into the premises of the party.
