By joshua BREAKING: Court strikes out Nigeria goalkeeper, Olorunleke Ojo’s divorce petition against wife, Tosin Ojo
The Customary Court sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State has struck out the divorce petition filed by Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Olorunleke Ojo against his wife, Tosin Ojo, on the ground that it lacks jurisdiction to entertain the matter.
In her ruling on Tuesday 21st July, 2026, the presiding judge () held that the Certified True Copy of the marriage certificate presented before the court established that the couple contracted a statutory marriage under the Marriage Act in 2016.
Consequently, the court ruled that only a higher court has the jurisdiction to hear and determine the case in question.
The judge however, advised the petitioner to approach the appropriate court if he wishes to pursue the matter further, before striking out the suit.
The development came after several adjournments on the case and followed Olorunleke’s earlier withdrawal of a similar petition from the High Court in the same state.
Attention now turns to whether the former Enyimba and Abia Warriors’ goalkeeper will file a fresh case at the higher court or whether both parties will employ alternative ways to resolve their dispute.
Both Ojo Olorunleke and Tosin Ojo got married on 11th November, 2016 and the marriage has been blessed with two sons.
The marriage suffered a hitch in 2024 when the wife challenged Olorunleke of involving extramarital affairs with his estranged mistress, Precious Daniel.
Both couples have been living separately since 2024 as the matter was unable to be resolved by their families.
