Bandits have killed one of the Zamfara state house of assembly members representing Shinkafi, Muhammad G. Ahmad.
The member was killed Tuesday night along Kankara, a boarder town between Zamfara and Katsina state.
The member was one his way to Kano to drop off his son at the airport when the gunmen attacked killing him.
His son and the driver escaped unharmed.
Details of the lawmaker’s death are still sketchy but Saidu Anka, Clerk of the Zamfara House House of Assembly, confirmed the incident.
Ahmed was killed hours after the key politicians in the state defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
