TEAM Nigeria, a socio-political group has called on Nigerians to look the side of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, when shopping for a credible candidate ahead of the 2023 presidential election, saying the governor has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that he is capable of occupying the number one position in the country, especially with the way he has tackled insecurity in the state.

Bestman Nze-Jumbo, President TEAM Nigeria for change, made the call during a media parley held in Abuja, today. According to him, the insecurity situation in the country which has been lingering unabated is a pointer that Nigeria needs someone who can tackle security issues in Nigeria, thereby paving the way for other sectors to thrive.

He said why his Non-governmental organization is rousing for Governor Yahaya Bello was borne out of the way he has rid the state of criminal elements in the state, which had hitherto been a dreaded state for motorists and travelers plying the route.

Bestman urged the youths to consider giving Bello their support come 2023, as he still falls within the youth cadre and has all it takes in terms of capacity, experience, and knowledge to occupy the seat of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Alhaji Isiaka Mustapha, of Peoples Security Monitor, in his own summation, said, it is only when the country has serious security structures on the ground that they start talking politics, therefore, Yahaya Bello should be given the credit for this, as he has demonstrated his capacity to tackle security challenges in Kogi state.

In his words; “The job of the president should be given to a more agile and capable hand and this Yahaya Bello has demonstrated in ensuring the stability of security in the state.

“Aspiring to be president is just a step, the decision to elect a candidate lies with the people and that is why we are calling Nigerians to give Yahaya Bello a chance come 2023,” he added.

Jacob Edi, former Chairman Nigerian Union of Journalist, Federal Capital Territory Chapter, while speaking at the parley, maintained that electing the country’s president should be about capacity and not about ethnic group and religion and that in this regard, the Kogi State Governor should be given the opportunity to take a shot at the presidency.
