There is no gainsaying that since the time of human coexistence there comes an era when the society demands for a gap to be bridged. This is often occasioned by the existence of a vacuum or by a generational necessity. The history is filled with instances when someone is needed to bridge the gap for the progress and betterment of the society.
To draw a few political icons that bridged a gap in their generations; we will remember the likes of Mohandas Gandhi, Alexander the Great, Mao Zedong, Winston Churchill, Akbar the Great, Nelson Mandela, Fidel Castrol, etc. These men rose to the occasion during their time and they became trailblazers.
There is no doubt that our nascent democratic space needs a man who is daring enough to bridge the generational gap. This is the yarning of every Nigerian and this is the expectations of those who crave for a progressive society.
Nigeria has been governed by people who should have been taking retirement rest in their various homes. Nigeria as it is today is bedeviled with things that do no good to anyone. Nigeria of today is stuck in a retrogressive sphere. Nigeria as we are seeing it now is a shadow of her true self. This is a dangerous gap in our society and it has set the populace on a dangerous precipice.
What Nigeria needs now is a leader who is daring enough to change the status quo. Nigeria needs a leader who does not follow inclination for populism. Nigeria needs a leader who has felt what a common man is feeling on the street and Nigeria needs a leader driven by vision and purpose. Governor Yahaya Bello is a man with these qualities and much more; his youthfulness is a plus.
The mere nursing of presidential ambition by Governor Yahaya Bello and the unusual public supports has in no small measure ruffled some feathers. It is not because he is not qualified for the number one nation’s top job but because many are the afflictions of those who want to bridge the gap left for so long in the society and because we live in a society where you can be easily judged by those who do not even have a scintilla idea of who you really are; reasoning by herd and crab mentality.
One starling quality about Governor Yahaya Bello is his ability to be focused and undeterred. He surely knows that there are confrontations on your way to make a change and verily he is set to bridge a generational gap in Nigeria.
