Barr. Shaba Ibrahim Steals the show at Nigerian Post Award


 

… bags most outstanding lawmaker award from Lokoja/Kogi Fed. Constituency.

 

The Lawmaker Representing Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Barr. Shaba Ibrahim yesterday stole the show at the annual Nigerian Post Newspaper lecture and award program.

 

The Lawmaker received wide applause from the audience when Gov. Yahaya Bello acknowledged his outstanding performances as a lawmaker, described him as a brother who is only sojourning in another political party.

 

Gov. Bello acknowledged the fact that despite being in a different political party, Barr. Shaba relates and interacts well with people of different political lining, urged him to sustain the feat.

Gov. Bello was full of praises for the Lawmaker as he bagged an award of excellence for being the most outstanding lawmaker from Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency said this award did not come to me as a surprise.

” I get the report from people as to the much you’re doing and I’m impressed. Politics is about development and about the people. You have proven this because the water you provide, the schools you build, the light you provide are not only used by PDP members but by the people irrespective of party affiliation”

The award was conferred on the Barr. Shaba by the “The Nigerian Post Newspaper” during her annual lecture on the topic: “Governance, Leadership Re-Defined, This House Must Not Fall”

Presenting the award to Barr. Shaba, the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo who represented Gov. Yahaya Bello described Barr. Shaba’ politics as accommodative of others.

The Commissioner urged the lawmaker to strive to sustain the feat attained in just above two years, pointing out that the award should spur him in doing more for the state.

 

The present administration he explained is responsive and responsible to the needs of it’s citizens stressed that government is resolved to continue to make the well-being of the people a priority.

The Governor promised to sustain government fight against crimes and criminality by infusing technology in onslaught in the State.

In his opening remark, chairman of the occasion and former Minister of State for Health, Professor Ikani Stephen Ocheni said the topic is apt in view of the present situation in the nation.

 

Professor Ocheni said Government at all levels must seek better ways of combating insecurity to sustain the collective efforts of one nationhood.

He commended Governor Bello’s giant strides in repositioning the educational sector, youths and women inclusiveness in governance as well as giving recognition to the physically challenged in the State.

Also in a paper presentation, Mr. Tope Joel of the Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja said the nation needs re-direction to ensure that the; “The House Does Not Fall” by voting leaders that will help in overcoming the security challenges as well as the need for family values to be inculcated in the children.

In his remark, the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi cautioned the political actors not to use, religion, ethnicity to heat the polity thereby attempting to pulldown the “House” of Nigeria as a nation.

 

Speaking, Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Union Journalists, Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh called on the State Government to give more attention to the State broadcast outfits namely; Radio Kogi and Graphics newspaper for optimum output.

 

Also in their separate goodwill messages, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku, Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Doctor Usman Ogbo, and Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Wemi Jones amongst others extolled Governor Bello’s style of redefining governance through projects execution across the State and inclusion of youths and women.

In a remark, the Editor-in-Chief of The Nigerian Post Newspaper, Mike Abu said the topic; “Governance Leadership Re-Defined This House Must Not Fall” is apt in view of the happenings in the nation which call for collective efforts of all.

He said the awardees were selected for thier modest contributions to the act of governance and humanity.

Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of awards to various dignitaries whose contributed immensely to the development of the society using thier various positions to impact positively on humanity among whom are the Provost, College of Education Technical Kabba, Doctor Mrs Victoria Olushola Jagboro, the SSA to Governor Bello on Electronics, Billy Nwogu, members representing Lokoja/Kotonkarfe and Yagba West in the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Shaba, and Elder Leke Abejide respectively, State NULGE President, Comrade Trade Adeyemi as well as Comrade Oladele Nihi who was conferred with an award on exceptional youth development and leadership.
