The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria Kogi State Chapter says it is committed to the development of the girl child and the enhancement of the Engineering profession especially amongst female Engineers in the country.
Engr. Mrs Christiana Ojoyi Omatola made the disclosure on the occasion of her inauguration as the 3rd Chairman and Executives of APWEN Week, urged parents and the girl child to strive to excell in the field of Engineering.
While promising to remain focus by creating new approaches and innovations that would facilitate further growth and development of Engineering in the State, she explained that nothing limits the girl child from becoming an Engineer.
Engr. Mrs Christiana said her tenure would witness the building of the capacity’s of members as well as to uphold the dignity of women Engineers and the world at Large, assured that she will under her leadership strive to partner with Lecturers towards making the teaching of science related subject interesting for the girl child.
She described the study of Engineering as a function of understanding the science subjects, said it has been proven that the girl child would do well in the study with the right environment.
The new APWEN Chairperson paid glowing tributes to the immediate past Executives of the State as well as the wonderful care the state Chapter has enjoyed from the National President, Engr. Dr. Elizabeth Jumoke Eterigba and the Zonal Coordinator, Engr. Chinelo Ojukwu, which she noted has led to numerical increase of Members.
Highlights of the inauguration of the APWEN Executives and Week was the conferment of award on some eminently qualified persons who have excelled in their field of endeavors.
One of the award recipient’s, Dr. Olatunde Alabi, Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, urged the girl child to develop interest in the study of Engineering, explaining that it is the bedrock of development, appreciated the Award of excellence given to him by APWEN Kogi State.
