OGIDI, KOGI STATE, NIGERIA — In a renewed demonstration of grassroots political leadership and commitment to party cohesion, the Personal Assistant to the Kogi State Governor (Ministry of Education), Comrade Rufus Obafemi, has called on stakeholders, executives and faithful of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ileteju/Origa Ward, Ijumu Local Government Area, to strengthen their bonds of unity, embrace peaceful coexistence and sustain their unwavering support for the ruling party.

The Governor’s aide made the passionate appeal during a strategic APC ward meeting held at his country home in Ogidi, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, where party members gathered to deliberate on issues affecting grassroots solidarity, internal harmony and the future of the party.

Addressing the gathering, Comrade Obafemi described unity, mutual respect and collective responsibility as indispensable pillars of sustainable political development, stressing that the continued strength of the APC depends largely on the willingness of its members to rise above personal interests and work towards common objectives.

He particularly applauded the ward executives for their steadfast commitment to strengthening the party’s structures, mobilising members and sustaining its relevance at the grassroots.

In a special tribute to the founding fathers and pioneer members of the APC in Ileteju/Origa Ward, the Governor’s aide acknowledged their sacrifices, resilience and enduring loyalty, describing their contributions as instrumental to the party’s growth and consolidation over the years.

Comrade Obafemi emphasised that political progress thrives where understanding, inclusiveness and cooperation prevail, urging party faithful to cultivate stronger interpersonal relationships and demonstrate maturity in resolving internal disagreements.

He warned against clannishness, factionalism and other divisive tendencies capable of weakening the party’s internal structures, noting that political differences should never be allowed to overshadow the shared aspirations of members.

According to him, the APC must remain a platform where every committed member feels respected, valued and included, irrespective of personal affiliations or differences in opinion.

With political activities gradually gathering momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, Comrade Obafemi encouraged party stakeholders to consolidate existing relationships, sustain grassroots engagement and strengthen the spirit of collective ownership that has continued to define the party’s presence in the ward.

He maintained that the road to sustainable political success requires discipline, loyalty, mutual understanding and an unwavering commitment to the principles of teamwork.

The meeting also underscored the importance of maintaining a peaceful and inclusive political environment in which members can freely contribute ideas towards strengthening the party’s organisation and advancing its collective interests.

Reaffirming his commitment to grassroots political harmony, Comrade Obafemi urged members to regard one another as partners in progress rather than competitors, stressing that the collective interest of the APC must always take precedence over individual ambitions.

The engagement highlighted the growing emphasis on internal reconciliation, stakeholder cooperation and grassroots mobilisation within the party as preparations for the next electoral cycle continue.

For Comrade Rufus Obafemi, the message was unmistakable: a politically united, peaceful and inclusive Ileteju/Origa Ward remains fundamental to building a stronger, more cohesive and forward-looking APC capable of pursuing its shared aspirations beyond 2027.
