ANEBIRA RESCUE MOVEMENT POLITICAL FAMILY (ARM) DECLARES SUPPORT FOR CHIEF MOMOH YUSUF OBARO’S 2027 SENATORIAL AMBITION
The newly formed Anebira Rescue Movement Political Family (ARM) has officially entered the political landscape of Kogi Central Senatorial District with a clear mission to mobilise grassroots support for the emergence of Chief Momoh Yusuf Obaro as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ultimately Senator representing Kogi Central in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the official unveiling of the movement in Lokoja, Kogi State, the Convener and Leader of ARM, Hon. Ahovi Adams, explained that the decision to establish the organisation was reached after wide-ranging consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders, women groups, youth organisations, and concerned citizens across Kogi Central.
According to him, the time has come for a new political direction built on competence, unity, fairness, accountability, and purposeful leadership.
He stressed that ARM would champion issue-based politics focused on the welfare of the people, economic empowerment, quality representation, education, infrastructure, youth development, and security rather than politics of intimidation, hatred, and unnecessary personal attacks.
Hon. Ahovi maintained that Chief Momoh Yusuf Obaro represents hope for the people of Kogi Central, describing him as a leader with the experience, integrity, and vision to restore confidence in governance and provide effective representation for the district.
He added that should Chief Obaro not emerge on the ballot, members of the movement would support Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, whom they believe has also demonstrated commitment to the development of Kogi Central.
The movement declared that the era of politics driven by fear, intimidation, and oppression must come to an end in Kogi Central.
“We are prepared to introduce a new style of grassroots political mobilisation where no individual or political empire will hold the people hostage. Democracy belongs to the people, not to a select few.”
ARM expressed concern over what it described as years of political intimidation allegedly associated with the administration of former Governor Yahaya Bello, stating that many painful questions surrounding insecurity, political violence, and unresolved incidents remain unanswered.
The movement noted with concern that during that administration, notable personalities, including the mother of the former Chief of Staff, Pharm. Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku, and former Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs, Kabiru Ozi-Onyene, were reportedly kidnapped, yet no official government position was publicly communicated to reassure citizens. According to the group, such incidents created anxiety among residents and raised legitimate concerns about accountability and public security.
ARM further called on security agencies to remain professional and impartial, urging that no citizen should face harassment, intimidation, or arrest merely because of political affiliation or for exercising constitutional rights to freedom of association and political participation.
The group also criticised what it described as the growing promotion of clan-based politics in Kogi Central, warning that favouring one clan or community over others threatens the unity and collective progress of the Ebira people.
According to ARM, governance and political appointments should reflect fairness, inclusiveness, competence, and equal opportunities rather than ethnic or clan considerations.
The movement alleged that the present administration has consistently concentrated benefits and financial patronage within a particular clan while neglecting other communities. It warned that if governance continues along such divisive lines, those benefiting exclusively should not expect the support of neglected communities during future elections.
ARM recalled that when Hon. Okara, while serving as Head of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reportedly empowered members of the Ezi-Edu Aniku community with ₦50,000 grants, the initiative attracted strong criticism from the then state leadership. The movement questioned why similar or greater forms of selective patronage are now allegedly tolerated.
The organisation called on political leaders across Kogi Central to abandon divisive politics and embrace justice, equity, and equal treatment for every clan, district, and community.
ARM concluded by reaffirming its commitment to peaceful democratic engagement and urged the people of Kogi Central to reject intimidation, politics of division, and any attempt to pit one clan against another.
“We believe the future of Kogi Central lies in unity, justice, fairness, and visionary leadership. The politics of fear must give way to the politics of ideas. The politics of exclusion must surrender to the politics of inclusion. Together, we shall rescue our land and restore the dignity of our people.”
