Anambra poll: CHRCR lauds INEC, security, residents

Lokoja, Nov. 10, 2021 (NAN) The Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR) has commended the people of Anambra and security agencies for ensuring free, fair and peaceful governorship election in the state.

The Executive Director of CHRCR, Mr Idris Miliki, gave the commendation on Wednesday, while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja, at a One-Day Meeting for Political Parties on ”Prioritising Anti-Corruption and Accountability Issues Towards 2023 Elections.”

Miliki commended the people of Anambra for standing out clearly and committed to vote for candidates of their choice.

According to him, in spite of threats, Anambra people have demonstrated the fact that we can organise free, fair and peaceful elections, if the people are determined to do so.

”We also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for coming up with the new innovation because there is no perfect system.

”We also commend security agencies for their role in ensuring free, fair and peaceful election,” he said.

He, however, commended Nigerians for the success of the Anambra election, and urged INEC to build on what they had seen in Anambra to perfect Nigeria’s electoral system.

NAN reports that Prof. Charles Soludo of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won the Anambra 2021 governorship election with a total of 112, 229 votes, followed by his closest rival, Mr Valentine Ozigbo of PDP with 53,807 votes. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
