Kogi West indigenes, on Tuesday have expressed satisfaction with the performances of Sen. Sunday Karimi, Senator Representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
Their Commendation came through a statement signed by the Chairman, Kogi West Patriotic Assembly, Ayodele Joshua, PhD; and Secretary, Kareem Adigun.
The constituents responded to a misinformed statement by mischief makers and sponsored by political detractors following the rising popularity of Sen. Karimi as one of the leading voices in the 10th Assembly.
The Constituents reacted to the faceless post titled: “Your Bootlicking, Sycophancy Will Take You Nowhere’, Group Slams Senator Karimi, pointed out that for those who know Sen. Karimi very well, he represents courage, fearlessness, is a man known to speak to power from time immemorial.
While pointing out that the faceless authors obviously do not have the information of the working and accomplishments made in just two years of the purposeful representation of Sen. Karimi.
It is important to point out for the record that through the efforts of Sen. Karimi, over N1.2billion is currently being spent in Government Secondary School, Koton karfe, a feat never achieved by any of the current Senators.
Today in Lokoja, an area that has benefitted stupendously from the effective representation of Sen Karimi, the people of Kupa, Lokoja, Budon can attest that they have never had it this go since the inception of democratic representation in the Senate in terms of infrastructure and human development.
His intervention after the Embwa boat disaster, the N11m for the Rehabilitation of Lokoja Fish Market Cold Room, empowerment of 400 Traders, As Lokoja Arewa Traders Union, amongst other efforts speak volumes.
Mischief makers may also not be aware that Sen. Karimi has secured employment opportunities for Kogi West Indigenes into the Federal Government Ministry’s, Department and Agencies.
If they are not aware, the 94 bed Military forward base, biggest ever in Nigeria, fully built by an individual with personal resources is located in Yagba West, has been able to check to the baerest minimum insecurity in the West and neighbouring states of Ekiti, Kwara and Osun State.
The representation of Sen. Karimi has seen several intervention in the building of Pakuta bridge linking Lokoja, Kabba, Ijumu, with neighbouring Niger State at personal cost.
The donation of N11m to Ijumu Anglican Diocese Nursing School, Church Projects by Sen. Karimi remains a watershed, which unfortunately they mischief makers do not know about.
The Senator has provided several Transformers to deserving Communities in Kogi West. His over 145 boreholes running into billions of naira across the district is an eloquent testimony to quality representation.
As we speak, over N100m has been used for women empowerment through cooperative societies, with another N100m for scholarship for students in tertiary institutions across Kogi West, a program earmarked for every year has been done and dusted by the Senator.
The intervention of the Senator in fixing deplorable conditions of roads in Kogi West, with the high point being the Senator’s efforts at ensuring the approval for the commencement of the Kabba – Egbe – Ilorin has gotten the nod of the Federal Government, is soon to commence.
For many who know Sen. Karimi, a man with few words, not known to be fillipant with his mouth, does not need to make noise, he has allowed his good work to speak for him.
While it is only those with ears and eyes can hear and see will appreciate his good works, we pity those who measure performance with hate, as it is without mincing words that amongst Senators in the 10th Senate, Sen. Karimi’s performance remains outstanding, particularly that the people he represents are appreciative of his quality representation.
For Sen. Karimi, power belongs to God and he gives it to those he wishes, makes us believe that when the time comes if performance is a yardstick, Sen. Karimi even though has not disclosed, will by the Grace of God and the people’s will, wish and aspiration emerge victorious having justified his mandate in just about two years and still counting.
It is on record that the Empowerment Schemes of Sen. Karimi to alleviate the sufferings of his constituents still remain unmatched in the history of legislative representation in Kogi West and the State at large. This can be measured in terms of numbers of trucks of loads of Palliatives he has always provided intermittently to bridge the gaps.
Sen. Sunday Karimi irrespective of where he stands will continue to speak the truth and to power, like he did to former Governor Yahaya Bello. He spoke then to elicit Good governance while in the PDP and in the opposition.
Having crossed ship and now in the APC, his recent comments arising from his commendation to the former Governor was to the fact that his efforts and several others to calm nerves was not heeded, which ought not to have led to the current happenings, for which the Central Senatorial District failed to heed that has over heightened and escalated the matter, has now become an embarrassment to the State and Nationally made him to make the inference he made, and has no regret.
For those who know Sen. Karimi he will never sing the praises of any one, history vindicates him as one who speaks to power. His political success dates back to the House of Representative where he won under an unknown platform, later won a second term against establishment in the PDP, spoke to the authority when things were not going right in the PDP, is not a political sycophant.
We are proud of a Senator who knows when to contribute to issues of National discuss on the floor of the Senate, is on record to have contributed handsomely to motions and bills in the National Assembly.
We therefore urge those faceless individuals who are been used by their sponsors that at the appropriate time water will find it level. In summary, we are proud of our outstanding Senator’s accomplishments and stand by him in Kogi West, now and always.
