… NUJ Chairman, others describes deceased as passionate, committed Journalist.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has received the remains of the late Elder Sam Augustine Egwu, Kogi State correspondent of Leadership Newspaper.
Receiving the remains at the NUJ Secretariat in Lokoja on Friday, the Kogi State NUJ Chairman, Momohjimoh Adeiza described the late Egwu as a peaceful man who had passion for the journalism profession.
He said the deceased will greatly be missed for his commitment and dedication to the journalism profession.
He prayed that God would comfort the family and give the journalists the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
Late Elder Egwu died last week in Lokoja, after a brief illness.
Aged 67, he will be laid to rest in his country home in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Nigerian Post reports that journalists gathered at the NUJ Secretariat to pay their last respect to the veteran journalist.
Speaking on the deceased, Abu Michael and Gowon Edibo, described late Sam Egwu as a man passionately committed to the journalism profession, pointing out that he practiced without fear or favour, would be remembered for his courage in reportage.
The late Sam Egwu would be interred after a Burial mass at Awo Akukunda Catholic Church, Ankpa.
