…Continues Workplace Security Campaign Sensitization, Commends Gov. Ododo
Workers in Olamaboro Local Government Area on Wednesday trooped out in large numbers to receive the Kogi State Government’s Workplace Security Campaign team, declaring total support for the re-election of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
The team was led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka. Dressed in their union uniforms and traditional attires, the workers sang solidarity and cultural songs as they received the delegation, describing both Governor Ododo and Comrade Edoka as “their own.”
Receiving the team on behalf of the Local Government Chairman, the Director of Personnel Management, Mr. Ojile Gabriel, described the visit as a homecoming. He commended Comrade Edoka for being a worthy ambassador of Olamaboro and for bringing the message of government directly to the grassroots.
According to Mr. Ojile, the achievements of the Ododo administration in the area are visible enough that there is no need for a fresh campaign. He said the Governor has restored hope to workers and brought smiles to their faces through prompt payment of salaries and attention to welfare.
Also speaking, the Chairman of NUT in Olamaboro, Comrade James Agidike, said the current administration’s focus on workers’ welfare represents a clear departure from the past. He stressed that for the gains to be sustained, continuity is necessary at both state and federal levels. “We need Governor Ododo to continue, and we also need President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to continue,” he said.
In his remarks, Comrade Tom Abutu, former State President of NULGE and current member of the Kogi State Fiscal Responsibility Commission, described the campaign as a message of brighter hope and consolidation. He appreciated the warm reception given to the team, which he said was a reflection of the workers’ love and acceptance of the Ododo-led administration. He urged them not to relent in their support.
Addressing the gathering, Comrade Onuh Edoka said the purpose of the visit was to sensitize workers on the need to be security conscious both at their workplaces and in their communities, and also to secure their jobs through wise political choices. He told the workers that after considering all options, the best path for job security and workers’ welfare remains the continuity of the Tinubu and Ododo administrations.
“All options considered, we stand with Gov. Ododo” Comrade Edoka declared. “He has shown commitment to workers. He pays salaries as and when due, he implements welfare packages, and he respects the labour community. To protect these gains, we must support his re-election and that of President Tinubu in 2027.”
The Olamaboro engagement is part of the ongoing statewide Workplace Security and Workers’ Welfare Campaign aimed at sensitizing workers on safety, job security, and the need to consolidate on the progress recorded under the present administration.
