As Ajaokuta Local Government Area prepares for the October Local Government election, the choice before the electorate is clear. It is a choice between rhetoric and record, between trial and tested commitment, and between starting over and building on the foundation of purposeful representation that the All Progressives Congress has laid across Kogi State.
The APC has presented Hon. Haruna Ganaja as its Chairmanship candidate for Ajaokuta LGA, and in him the party is offering a man who has walked the full arc of politics. For years he played opposition politics. He watched governance closely, he asked the hard questions, and he criticized where he believed the people were not being well served. That period was not wasted. It was a classroom. It taught him what works, what fails, and what the ordinary man in Ganaja, Adogo, Eganyi, Upogoro and every other ward expects from government.
Having now joined the APC, Hon. Haruna brings that same sincerity, but this time with the platform and the structure to act. He has seen it all from the outside, and he is ready to turn that experience into service from the inside. That is the unique advantage he carries into this election. A leader who understands both the pain of the people and the mechanics of government is a leader who can deliver quickly.
Ajaokuta LGA deserves a Chairman who will not need a learning curve. The challenges are real and they are immediate. Water, roads, primary healthcare, youth employment, market access, security and support for farmers and small businesses. These are not campaign slogans. They are daily needs. Hon. Haruna has lived among the people, he has listened to them in town halls, in markets and in community meetings, and he has shaped his vision around those conversations. His pledge is simple. To bring governance closer to the people, to be accessible, and to ensure that every kobo that comes to the local government translates into visible projects.
The APC in Kogi State has shown what is possible when there is synergy between the state and the local governments. From infrastructure to social investment, from youth and women empowerment to civil service welfare, the template for delivery already exists. What Ajaokuta needs now is a Chairman who can key into that template, align with the vision of His Excellency Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, and localize it for Ajaokuta’s peculiar needs. Hon. Haruna fits that bill. He is a grassroots mobilizer, a consensus builder, and a man who understands that leadership is service first.
This is why the call to the good people of Ajaokuta is urgent and direct. Come out en masse on election day in October. Do not sit on the fence. Do not trade this moment for indifference. Turn out in your numbers and vote for Hon. Haruna Ganaja of the All Progressives Congress. A vote for him is a vote for experience that has been tempered by years of criticism and reflection. It is a vote for a man who knows what is wrong and already has ideas on how to make it right. It is a vote for sincerity that will be matched with action, and for leadership that will prioritize the welfare of the people above all else.
Ajaokuta has always been a LGA of potential. With the steel complex, with its agricultural strength, and with its vibrant youth population, the only thing missing has been consistent, focused, and accountable local leadership. Hon. Haruna Ganaja represents that missing link. He is not new to the terrain. He is not new to the conversations. He has been in the room when decisions were being questioned, and now he is asking to be in the room where decisions are being made, so he can make them in your favor.
October is not far. The future of our markets, our schools, our health centers, and our roads will be decided by the mandate we give. Let Ajaokuta choose competence.
