Ahead of November 6 Inauguration of Board of Governors, KOCCIMA Meets Government House DG, Seeks Partnership

The Kogi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, KOCCIMA, on Thursday met with the Director-General, Government House Administration, Lokoja, Adm. Dr. Umaru Oricha Shuaibu, to fine-tune preparations for the inauguration of its Board of Governors slated for November 6, 2026, at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Lokoja.

The meeting, held in the DG’s office, focused on securing the full support and participation of the State Government in the historic inauguration.

Adm. Shuaibu, who is also a member of the soon-to-be inaugurated Board, expressed the full support of the Kogi State Government for the inauguration and lauded KOCCIMA for its renewed drive.

He described the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo as one firmly committed to building a private sector-driven economy, noting that no meaningful development can thrive without a strong partnership between government and the organised private sector.

According to him, Governor Ododo’s commitment to security, peace and ease of doing business has made Kogi an emerging investment destination, adding that the Board of Governors would further bridge the gap between government policy and private enterprise.

In his remarks, the First Deputy President of KOCCIMA, Comr. Rajaun Suleiman, who represented the President, Dr. Demiloye Akerejola, said the visit was to formally brief the Director-General and solicit the Government’s presence and support for the inauguration.

He explained that the Governing Board, composed of eminent business leaders, industry captains, professionals and technocrats of proven integrity, will serve as the apex policy and advisory organ of the Chamber.

He said the Board’s mandate is to drive economic planning, promote investment, stimulate industrial growth, advocate for business-friendly policies, and harness Kogi’s vast human and natural resources for sustainable development.

“The Chamber is committed to leveraging the enormous opportunities that abound in Kogi State, from agriculture and solid minerals to commerce and tourism. The members of the Board of Governors are men and women of high integrity with the capacity and network to turn around the fortunes of the state’s economy,” he said.

He added that the Governing Board will also work closely with Ministries, Departments and Agencies to align KOCCIMA’s trade fairs, investment fora and enterprise development programmes with the economic agenda of the Ododo administration.

The November 6 inauguration is expected to mark a new chapter for KOCCIMA in its role as the voice of the private sector and a strategic partner in Kogi State’s economic transformation.

The KOCCIMA delegation included Mr. Enejoh Samuel, Director-General; Dr. Mohammed, Vice President, Finance; and Abu Micheal, Vice President, Public Relations.
