The Lagos State Police Command has charged three suspects identified as Abubakar Musa, Sarauta Monsur, and Surajo Yusuf to court for allegedly beating a prostitute, Hannah Saliu, to death and setting her corpse ablaze for keeping the Holy Quran in her room.
One of the suspects was said to have patronised Hannah and, after having s*x with her, paid her the sum of N1000 before leaving. A few seconds after he left, Hannah realized her N5000 was missing. She went after him and accused him of stealing the money.
The accusation turned into an argument, and the suspect’s friends suggested they search her room.
While searching her room, they saw a Quran underneath her pillow and started questioning her. They got angry and beat her to death then set her corpse ablaze.
The incident happened at Alaba Rago. They said she was not supposed to carry the Holy Book because of her kind of work.
The police said the three suspects have been charged to court. The incident happened in April.
