
ADONAI CLIMATE RESILIENCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTIONS (ACRES) VISITS KOSEMA FOR COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIP

The Adonai Climate Resilience and Enviromental Solutions (ACRES) led by the Principal Consultant, Professor Jimmy Adegoke was received by Alh Mouktar Atimah, the Executive Secretary Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (KOSEMA).
Another partner in the delegation was Special Adviser on Climate Change to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Hon. Michael Ajibade, expressed gratitude to His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for appointing Alh Mouktar Atimah, whom he described as an accomplished and reliable ally. He referred to his appointment as “round peg in a round hole”.
The Principal Consultant ACRES disclosed that the purpose of the visit was to identify areas of shared interest and collaborate with the Agency. He further stressed that the responsibility of the Agency on emergency management is tasking but collaborative partnership with the ACRES would complement the efforts of the Agency.
He reiterated that KOSEMA is one of the critical stakeholders in developing climate policy document using resource mobilization to address climate change and other forms of disasters, adding that the proactive steps taken so far by the Agency has stimulated ACRES to extend its operations, possibly through partnership aims to enhance disaster management and mitigate the impacts of disasters on the citizens.
In his welcome note, Alhaji Mukhtar Atimah applauded the visit, deeming it a timely and appropriate step while stressing the need for collaborative partnership to scale up disaster management in Kogi State.
While responding, Atimah said Kogi is one of the most impacted by climate change, especially flood and windstorm disaster that has become a perpetual threat to the residents.
He emphasized that His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, placed zero tolerance to any forms of disaster. He commended his commitment and support, noting that Governor Ododo has charged KOSEMA through the office of Deputy Governor to manage every disaster occurrence with minimal impact on the citizens.
The KOSEMA Boss thanked the ACRES team for the visit and promised enhanced collaborative partnership.
